Shangluo walnut cake
Shāngluò Hétao Bǐng (Shangluo Walnut Pastry) is a traditional pastry from Shangluo, in southeastern Shaanxi. Shangluo is famous for its walnuts, considered among the best in China. The pastry features a flaky crust filled with a sweet walnut paste, creating a nutty, aromatic treat that is perfect with tea.

- Dough: 250 g flour, 80 g oil, 80 ml water
- Filling: 150 g walnut kernels (toasted and ground)
- Filling: 60 g sugar, 2 tbsp sesame oil
- Filling: 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- Egg wash for brushing
制作步骤
- 1. Knead flour and warm water into a soft dough and let it rise for 20 minutes.
- 2. Divide the dough into strips and roll it into a thin round dough.
- 3. Roll up the dough and flatten it into a cake shape
- 4. Brush the pan with thin oil and fry over medium-low heat until one side is golden brown, flip over
- 5. Fry both sides until golden and crispy, remove from the pan and cut into pieces.
