Cultural Notes
Di Sanxian is considered one of Dongbei cuisine's greatest achievements — a humble dish that rivals meat dishes in satisfaction. Its name means 'Three Treasures from the Earth,' reflecting the agricultural abundance of northeastern China. The dish demonstrates that Dongbei cuisine is not just about heavy, meaty dishes but also has a refined vegetarian tradition.
