📖 Culture & History
The Dai people of Xishuangbanna have a rich tradition of cold salads that bridge Thai and Chinese culinary cultures. Banana flower salad is one of their most iconic dishes. The banana flower has a mild, slightly astringent flavor that pairs beautifully with the tangy-sweet dressing. This dish reflects the Dai people's deep knowledge of tropical ingredients — every part of the banana plant is used in their cuisine. It is typically served alongside grilled meats and sticky rice at traditional Dai meals.
